We went to the Art Institute today since we had President's Day off. This was my first trip to see the Modern Wing and I was very impressed. The light coming through the glass walls and ceiling lit the galleries perfectly, yet were not a distraction. For the most part the circulation of the galleries made sense although the flow with the rest of the museum was a bit awkward. It was a bit crowded today as it was a holiday (and February is a free month) so I did notice a few pinch points that may need sorted out.
It was nice to see some pieces I'd never seen before and some familiar works that had been missing the past few years during the construction.
Best thing about the day was the sense of inspiration I felt, both about myself and also about making a place in our house for the boys to draw, create and just be. I think we'll be finishing out the attic this Spring.
